Chapter Two
Respond to 2 of the 5 questions listed below. Follow the same instructions from the last chapter's blog.
1- Reread the account of Liberty 5-3000. What character traits are revealed in this brief description?

2-Of the whole range of feelings possible to man (joy, excitement, anger, embarrassment, etc.), why is fear the prevalent emotion in this society?

3-Using descriptions from the text, contrast Equality with the rest of the men living in this society.

4-Equality says “a word steals into our mind, as we look upon our brothers”. What is that word and why would that be the word he thinks of?

5-Explain the following terms: A. The Great Truth B. the Unmentionable Times C. the Uncharted Forest D. the Evil Ones E. the Great Rebirth

  1. 2. Fear is the prevalent feeling because, no matter what you do you're always being watched by the concil. So if you mess up they're there to catch you in the act.

  2. 2. The reason wht fear is a big deal in this story is because without freedom in the world it is really easy to get in trouble and punished. Most of the people are weighted with fear in there soul therefore, they follow the rules.

  5. 1. Equality says that Liberty is "straight and thin as a blade of iron". She has dark, hard eyes that have no emotion in them. She also has golden hair, and seems to be very defiant of the rules they are given.

    2. It is shown in the story that fear is definitely the most prevalent emotion for the people. I think they are fearful because of the strict rules and standards they have. They are afraid that anything they do or say will get them in trouble, even if it is as a whole.

  6. 5. The Great Truth is what really happened in the past. The Unmentionable Times is the past and all they've created. The Uncharted Forest is where nobody goes because it's "dangerous." The Evil Ones fought against the city and didn't listen to them. The Great Rebirth is when everything changed for the "better."

  7. 1. Liberty 5-3000 is described as six foot tall with golden hair. They had no fear weighing them down, for they were different.

  8. 1. Liberty 5-3000 is described as their body was straight and thin as a blade of iron. Their eyes were dark and hard and glowing, with no fear in them, no kindness, and no guilt. Their hair was golder as the sun; their hair flew in the wind, shining and wild, as if it defied men to restrain it.
    2. Fear is the prevalent emotion in this society because if any of them does something not equal to the others, they get horribly punished and may even be killed in a painful way. They're all scared to do something someone else isn't because they're constantly being watched and it's terrifying for them.

  9. 1. The laws are so strict and there is no freedom. If you disobey the laws you are immediately sent to the palace of corrective detention. Fear is prevalent because the government wants them to be scared.

  13. 1. Some character traits that the author reveals about Liberty 5-3000 are that she has dark eyes that appear to have no emotion in them, and that her hair is as golden as the sun. She is basically a female version of Equality.

    The Unmentional Times is the time before the rebirth.
    The Uncharted Forest is a place where people aren't allowed to go, a place that isn't on maps.
    The Evil Ones are the ones that lived before the rebirth.
    The Great Rebirth is when the current world of Anthem was established.

  19. 1) Her body was straight and then as a blade, her eyes where dark and glowing with no fear, and her hair was golden and flew in the wind. She seems free spirited, and not afraid of anything.

    2) Fear is the prominent emotion because the council is all ways there. So if you think by yourself, do something by yourself, or disobey one of your brothers you get punished.

    2. The feelings in the story is anger and fear. They shall not fear or think what they want because no other man is thinking it. They are angry that they think liberty is different but can not share it. But fear fills them cause they are scared that people will know that they see differently of liberty and that is a sin.

    2. People are born with emotion such as sad, happy, angry etc. It is impossible to be happy all the time. In their world they are forced to be happy, but if they do not act like it they will pay. They must live in fear because if they brake the rules there will be consequences.

    2. Fear is prevalent emotion in this society because if someone doesn't do something equal to others, they'll get punished. There scared to do something different from everyone because their always being watched.
